Biostatistician at Propeller Health
San Francisco, CA, US
Location: San Francisco
Office: San Francisco
Department: Data
Propeller is a digital health company using data, design and technology to improve the management of chronic respiratory diseases like asthma and COPD, which have enormous social costs. We are a growing team, co-located in the beautiful cities of Madison, Wisconsin, and San Francisco, California, and we’d love to have you join us.

Why is this role important?

In the role of Biostatistician, you will primarily be responsible for providing statistical analyses and recommendations to support research, clinical publications, internal analyses and product features. As Biostatistician for Propeller, you will perform statistical analyses of large, diverse, and complex data sets. In this position, you will bring analytical rigor and statistical methods to the challenges we are solving. You will recommend test designs, sampling requirements and data collection strategies to help with predictive modeling as well as hypothesis testing. You will deliver key analyses for motivating product direction, build re-usable analysis tools and be an author on publications you support.

What will you learn in this role?

You will have the opportunity to work with data only available at Propeller, including where and when people use their inhaled medications, what the environmental context was like when they used their inhalers and patient-reported outcomes survey data. We have a number of interesting data problems to work on, including analyzing what causes asthma and COPD symptoms, quantifying Propeller’s reduction in symptoms and improvement in outcomes and discovering which components of the Propeller intervention are leading to the clinical improvements seen. We conduct rigorous randomized, controlled clinical trials, as well as constant testing and analysis of Propeller product features in real-world settings.

Who will you work with?

The role of biostatistician is very cross-functional at Propeller. You will work closely with software engineers, product managers, the research team and internal and external clinicians.
